Moscow, Kiev to discuss eastern Ukraine power supplies on Aug 3
MINSK/MOSCOW, Jul 28 (PRIME) -- Representatives of the Russian and Ukrainian Energy Ministries will meet on August 3 to discuss the recovery of electric power supplies to the easternmost regions of Ukraine, Ambassador of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Martin Sajdik told reporters late Wednesday.
“The issue of electric power grid restoration has been discussed (at a meeting of the workgroup for the economy); in order to accelerate the process, further negotiations will take place on the level of corresponding ministries of Russian Federation and Ukraine,” Sajdik said.
An official of the Russian Energy Ministry said that Ukraine has enough power to satisfy the need of the eastern regions, not controlled by Kiev, where the power supplies are scarce.
Sajdik said that the negotiations regarding water supplies and recovery of the railway traffic in the east of Ukraine are progressing slowly.
